What's up 7 people that read these blogs and that hopefully aren't my mother refreshing her browser (kidding she doesn't even read this lol)
Bots or not, I couldn't be happier if one person read this, it's about the journey and looking back on things someday that matters most to me. Also the theme for this week's news:
Weekly update:
Mostly uneventful so this will be short. Lot's of plans for the future so time for preparation. The sony is long overdue for a lens + memory card update. As well as daylight mode on the display is not cutting it for midday dessert shooting so a monitor is on the list as well. As a kid I loved wishlists, as an adult I call them "costs". Laptop is newer than my desktop so I've found myself doing a lot of the editing on that, which is great until connecting 2 additional monitors... For still shots I find this overkill but for video editing to be efficient, I'm finding it a must and unfortunately the processor on the macbook pro is finally seeing it's limits. My pc has a fairly powerful GPU but my processor is completely bottlenecking as well and for an upgrade to happen the motherboard must go as well. If you're not a computer/camera nerd and you decided to still read that and don't understand what I'm getting at here: I need like $100k worth of crap.
More like $10k but may as well be $1 million right now. Times like these are why I understand how some of the most successful people started off struggling. Everytime I find myself in these situations, I learn a new solution or at the very least a new drive to get better and make more $$$. And in the meantime you always make do with what you've got and learn the true difference between "want" and "need".
Plans for this week are simple, full steam ahead on marketing and networking. I'm not trying to be a major corp or massive company. I've seen tons of people who operate various sizes of businesses and don't have the time to do their own marketing, or the budget to pay these larger agencies. I know that my background in facebook ads, dealership marketing, and video production make me a perfect and affordable option for those who desperately need to take advantage of this social media world and have amazing ideas the world needs to see. Call me ;)
*VIRAL*
Attention attention, at this very moment, my most recent dash-cam clip on my instagram has just hit 20k views, 450+ likes, and took me a total of 5 minutes to edit + share. The video that took me 6 hours to shoot, 1 week to edit, and I poured my heart and soul into... nobody watched... why?
I'm here to tell you the answer: who cares.
Businesses, ignore that comment :) But this was a personal instagram account that I certainly use to network, but was created for self improvement and fun. And it has taught me a lot.
Trying to create things cannot always be forced, I'd even say most times; they can't at all. To create something successful whether it be a product or business/idea etc sometimes seems to just take a bit of dare I say... luck?????
I don't entirely mean that, better said would be "statistical chance", and therefore if you study the game and have a half decent idea, I think you can certainly manipulate your success. But do views = success?
I don't think so. Although I should've prefaced; I have no clue what I am talking about so these are just what I'm interpreting to have observed. But from a business standpoint, views surely isn't everything. Retention, sales, cpm etc, there more to it than views. For the people who use instagram for personal use, stop caring entirely. My faecbook was "lit" back in highschool, my videos got "tons" of views. They aint doin s**t to help pay off my student loans.
If you want to create a successful business, you can't just get peoples attention, you gotta figure what to do with it FIRST! - person who has yet to create a successful business... yet
*CONCLUSION*
If you were expecting some sort of wisdom because of the word "conclusion" I'm sorry to disappoint. I'm just a traveler in this world of social media sharing my perception, If there's one thing I can say confidently, focus on improving yourself above all else. Don't use views to gauge that improvement either. I think social media is a powerful tool for those who know how to use it, but for someone like me, it's an even better tool to practice new skills and connect with other creators for inspiration and collaboration.
With media creation being so accessible these days; don't beat yourself up for not being the best. Find your strengths, learn your weaknesses, and never give-up on bettering yourself. In an era of platforms like youtube and people like Mr. Beast it should be painfully obvious that effort + dedication will lead to anything you set your mind to. Just don't forget to leave that mind open!! (speaking to all 7 of my readers currently + any future readers + future me!)
